I have never sold anything on craigslist before. I need to rehome my dog, so I put an add on Craislist for a small adoption fee for 200.00. I get an email from Donald pretending to be Angela Edwards claiming to be getting the pet for her? Wife for her birthday. He asked for my address so he could send me a cashiers check. I sent him my adress and he sends me a check for $990.00. Tells me the extra money is for the shipping. I thought I was going to be paying a shipping company with my credit card, so I deposited the check into my bank. After the fact, he tells me that he wanted me to pull out the rest of the cash and western union it to his shipping agent, Donald Paquette. This smelled fishy to me. What kind of company only takes cash?! It was a weekend so I told him there was no way I could pull out any cash before Monday, but I wouldn't pull anything out until I knew the check was legit. He then got a little pushy. Telling me it was a cashiers check, which was instant cash to my account. Which if it's not fake, It's true. I could smell a rat. I told him I wouldn't be pulling any money out at all, I was going to check with the bank to see if everything was legit. When I called the bank to check where the check came from they said they had no information on the check ever being made out. It was a fake check! Though I never sent him any money, I deposited his "check". I'm contacting my bank tomorrow morning to get this all sraghtened out. It just makes me sick!
