I had a terrible experience with this company while renting one of their apartments at 918 3rd St.in Santa Monica. According to our lease, we were required to give Jennifer Pilipey, the manager, written notice of our move out date. We did this in 4 separate emails, including one that gave her detailed info on the exact dates furniture would be gone and the place cleaned. The move out date in our emails was always the same, the 15th.
When we received our deposit in the mail, Jennifer had taken out rent up to the 18th, another $165.00. She claimed that despite our written notice, we hadn't indulged her by calling her to say we were out of the apt. HUH??? Where in the lease does it say we needed to do that? Plain and simple, it doesn't. She is simply ripping us off, knowing that we are in PA and a small claims suit wouldn't be worth pursuing.
In addition to the despicable behavior exhibited by Jennifer, the repair requests sent in online were ignored each time. I had to hunt Jennifer down by phone every time in order to get anything done.
I have decided to put my $165.00 to best use by warning as many folks as possible to stay away from any property managed by these people. If Jennifer and EGL decide to do the right thing I'll be sure to post again. Not holding my breath however...
