United Artist Movie Theatre
Searching my purse for outside food or for weapons

On the above mentioned dated I agreed to meet my sister at this movie theater to watch a new movie with our children. After purchasing my tickets I made my way to the "ticket collector" who checked our tickets, told us which way our theater was and asked to check my bag. I did not hesitate, (though nO signs were displayed to suggest that my bag might be checked) she quickly glanced at my bag and noticed a small snack size bag of ritz I had brought for my 18 month old to munch on. She said I could not bring food from outside. I hardly consider a few crackers to be worth the hassle, but she would not retain the snack for me. I asked to speak to the manager, but she was just as rude and said no.

My daughters were getting impatient since her cousins were already in the movie theater waiting for us with sufficient snacks for us all, so I decided to just throw away my babies cookies and go inside to watch the movie.

Once inside the theater, I asked my sister if they checked her bag when she came in. She said yes. I asked if they made a big deal about her carrying her gun in her bag. She said they didn't see it, nor did she mention it. Of course now I am beyond upset at the theaters priorities in checking our bags. It is evident that employees at Edwards Theater are trained to hunt down snacks that are are brought from outside. Relax Edwards theater employees, I always buy something to munch on for myself and my older kids. It's difficult to give an 18 month old popcorn without fearing they might choke on one.

When the employee asked to check my bag I was kind of glad that the theater was looking out for my safety, especially after the tragic Aurora incident that happened less than a month ago. But no, it turns out that United Artists is concerned about making sure we spend money on their unhealthy snacks and could careless about my safety. I'll think twice before heading over to my local Edwards Theater.

By the way my sister is a Deputy For Los Angeles Sherriffs and is allowed to carry a gun. But what if she wasn't? No one would have found the gun in her bag and who knows what could have happened.
