Professional Bureau-Collection
Unprofessoinal, waste of time, frustrating experience

This is a warning to all job seekers who have applied to Professional Bureau-Collection in Elk Grove and were unfortunate enough to be called into an interview. This is my experience and will hopefully help others avoid wasting their gas and time going to a dead end interview for a dead end company.

I have been out of work for a while now and I (like many like me) am applying to every position I may qualify for that my ego would allow me to work (no aplications into McDonalds yet). I got a call back from PBC and they sounded very professional over the phone and I scheduled an interview.

I arrived at the interview on time and was asked to wait. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in their small lobby.in the time I waited I noticed the cheap office upgrades (the walls looked like they were installed by someones unlicensed contractor/brother in law) and there was serious wear on some of the walls an door. I also listened to the boiler room in the next room and heard supervisors shouting at employees and ringing bells and making all kinds of noise. I've worked in phone sales before and there is nothing more nerve wracking than listening to the phone ring in one ear while hearing all kinds of unnatural sounds in the other ear.

On to the interview: It lasted a total of about 5 minutes (after waiting 30) and included the HR person grilling me about why I would be a good fit for the position. They did not tell me anything about the position or pay just went over my resume and noted my lack of collection experience and made me wonder if they even looked at my resume before going in for an interview.

I saved the best for last. The last question they asked was along the lines of "how do you feel about being micro managed" or "do you like being micro managed". I can't think of a more unprofessional question to be asked at an interview. It's like asking someone how they feel about being punched in the face, sure some people might really enjoy it and some others may lie about it to get a job but the majority of people would not enjoy it and would tell them that.

I was positive that I did not the job after they made me wait 30 minutes but I was already there and I can't unburn the gas it took to drive out to Elk Grove but to conduct the interview in such an unprofessional manner I can only hope this report will save some other poor souls time energy and trouble when they do their research on the company.
