I answered an e-mail for a Mystery Shopper position last week. A return e-mail advised that I would receive a check for the process of my mystery shopping and for my services. On July 26, I received a personal check for $1950 made payable from "Bethany asb, Lammersville School District, 1601 Williams Loop Rd., Brantley, AL 36009 - phone: 864-558-5385. The check came via Priority Mail from "Anthony Smith-Washington, 372 Lake Ave., Staten Island, NY 10303-2629".
I researched the School District and it is there are 2 of their schools in Mountain House and Tracy, CA. I am not cashing the check as they will get a hold of my account and this is where the scam comes in. I have not sent any money and never would have in the first place. No money was requested.
I will be reporting this entire scenario to the Attorney General's Office and other entities for any action they may take against this scam.
