The first email through Craigslist came from [email protected], coming from Gary, saying
"Hello. Confirm to me if this is still available for sale and in good condition.
Regards"
After confirming my car was available, I get an email from Geraldine, stating:
"OK. Good to have your reply. I am Geraldine Hamby from Gastonia, NC.
And would have loved to come and inspect this at your place myself,
but I am a marine engineer and presently off-shore. I am interested in
buying this for my son in North Carolina as a surprise birthday gift
and pls just make sure it is in condition described. I will appreciate
more pictures if available and will be sending your money asap. A
preferred shipping agent will be available to pick this up after
payment is made. Do you have paypal account? Because, I have a paypal
account that I can easily send money through because, its good for
business payments. Get back to me with your paypal email address and
name in order for me to have your money sent on time. Confirm sale to
me and remove the add from posting.

After pushing back and asking for a lot more security prior to committing to the sale, I get this:
"Ok. You can sign off the tittle and mail to my address via certified
mail. Due to my present location, my choices are limited and not often
available by the phone. I am an honorable person and you will receive
your money cash in hand before this is picked up. However, it's easy
and free to open a paypal account. Just go to there website
www.paypal.com and sign up a personal account there. Paypal is the
world leading payment master that protects both buyer/seller interest.
You are on a secured transaction with paypal. Above all, it's like
instant cash. As soon as you open an account, get back to me with the
name and email that you linked with your paypal account and I will
have your money sent asap. And due to the nature of my job and having
being a paypal customer for the past 18 months with no charge back, I
feel more comfortable sending my funds via paypal due to there various
security measures at ensuring safe and secured transaction between
both buyer/seller. But, if you feel otherwise, I totally understand.

After telling others that I had a buyer for my car and pulling the listing, I am seeking damages for the deception in the total I was asking for the car, unless I am able to sell it in the mean time.
