Walmart gift card or moneycard beware! ~My kids purchased me a Walmart money card for $50, then on a seperate occassion a Walmart Gift Card for $50. The valid thru dates were 01/14 & 05/18. I thought I had until that date to use the cards & wanted to wait til I found what I really wanted, so I didn't use them right away. I activated the "money card" a few months ago, but the Walmart store said it wasn't active, so I thought I must've missed a step. I didn't try to use it again until now. When I called the phone no. On the card, they said the card wasn't active because they issued me an "official" card which was mailed to me. Now the balance is $26 because of a $3 mo. Charge. They said they didn't have to send me a statement & nothing can be done. The "gift card" had never been opened, but it's not valid. I've talked to numerous people at the number on the card including a supervisor and tried NUMEROUS Walmart corporate numbers to no avail! This is a terrible scam that a store as large as Walmart is letting this be sold in their stores! It costs the consumer that buys the card $3 just to purchase the card, then if there's any value even on the card, and you activate it, it charges $3 mo. To the owner of the card of which is never disclosed. Buyer beware!
