My 16 year old son put an ad on Craigslist, without my knowledge, to sell his Xbox 360, quite a few expensive games and handles. The items he was trying to sell were worth approximately $350.00. Khambrel approached my son by phone and asked my son if he was interested in trading for some car speakers. My son agreed. Khambrel asked my son to meet him at the Ace Bar in St. Cloud. My son didn't have enough gas in his truck and asked Khambrel to meet him at Pojo's in Gilman, MN. About 5 minutes from our house. Khambrell showed up to meet my son with 4 other people in the car. There were 4 older males in his car. Very scurvy looking people according to my son. He asked my son for the equipment and my son gave it to him. He then gave my son some inexpensive speakers that didn't work. My son didn't check to see if they worked. He clearly took advantage of my son. He clearly knew the speakers didn't work. My son was wrong to do this to begin with, but he thought what he was getting was an expensive pair of speakers as described by Khambrel. He clearly knew these speakers weren't working. He was really stupid meeting strangers alone. It could have been much worse. I'm glad he's safe, but, he lost $350.00. I called this person and he gave me the run around. Won't return my calls and said he was now on vacation until the end of the summer. The police said they couldn't do anything about it because my son agreed to trade. I can't just sit back and do nothing. We don't have a lot of money, and $350.00 is a lot for us to lose. My son learned a good lesson but, this person knew full well what was going on and that the merchandise he traded was not working. My son felt pressured to take it because he was with 4 big older, scary looking guys. This person lives in St. Cloud, MN. It was advertised on St. Cloud Craigslist. His phone numbe is 320-469-0338. It's really sad that someone would do this to a kid. Is there anything you can do? Any way my son can be reimmbursed?
