Do not do business with salle mae. - Govt/Private Student Loans

I have spoken with multiple employees of Sallie Mae in an attempt to set up a payment plan for my school loans. Ultimately what I can afford to give them every month is exactly $500 dollars. I set up a plan with an employee (Andre) that automatically deducts $500 from my account on the first of each month. I was assured at that time that the payment plan I had set up satisfies my requests. A few weeks pass and I continue to receive calls about my loans being past due even though I set up a payment plan that was supposed to cover all my loans. I spoke with another employee (forgot her name) and asked her why she was calling. She answered that my loan was past due and I asked her the total, she replied with $26 dollars (roughly). Feeling like something was not correct, I inquired about the payment plan I had set up, she assured me that it does cover all my loans and the $26 was outstanding from a previous date before setting up the payment plan. I paid the $26 dollars thinking that would be the end of it. After a hand-full of missed calls I began to get suspicious and double checked my account online. It said that my account is a few hundred dollars past due... So today I spoke with a supervisor in the hopes that she (Laurie ID# E38553) would be able to resolve this issue. She presented me with the typical run around and 'temporarily' lowered my Dept. Of education payments. A real half-assed job in my opinion. My request was simple, "Please make the 500 a month that you are automatically deducting cover all my loans". At that moment all she needed to do was say I will take care of that for you and call you back. Is it too much to ask for employees of the SAME COMPANY to communicate across departments? Is it really that hard to walk down the hall to another department and handle YOUR JOB or are these departments on different islands? SERIOUSLY. Why do I have to call another department? IM PAYING YOU, remember. It's either a terribly structured company, or one lazy employee after another. Either way, both options will result in a headache.

Bottom line: this company's customer service is absolutely atrocious. They are structured to screw you. They do not work with you. They do not work with each other even though they are under the same company name. Do not make the same mistake i did. Do business elsewhere.

*If by the grace of god someone at Sallie Mae even reads this, do your homework and contact me with a solution to this issue. Not a bunch of 'forbearance options' or 'temporary payment reductions'. Take some pride in customer service and stop calling me between the hours of 9-6... Im at work making your money.
