*this is a scam*
you receive a letter with a check claiming you have won $200k prize from a "uk & north american shoppers sweepstake". They name U.S. Stores like wal-mart, k-mart, sears, costco, home depot, best buy (to name a few) and claim that your name was randomly selected from all these stores database... All because you used your debit or credit card for purchases!
They provide a check in U.S. Dollars which is deducted from your "winning" to cover the "non-resident tax fee" you need to pay before you can receive the balance. You are required to call your assigned "claims agent" which will give you instructions on what you need to do after you have deposited the check. You're basically paying the tax fee to an 'agent' through the services of western union money transfer. All this within 3 days from when you have deposited this check into your account.
