Vendi Corp (Northstar Consulting)
Scam, door to door, marketing

This place is a fraud through and through. I went on my first interview with a very nice guy who was extremely laid back and easy to speak with. He told me about how the company is expanding, how they deal with fortune 100 clients, how the company will send you on business trips to the Bahamas, London, Miami, etc. They make it seem all glamorous at first and it's almost like you are in a dream.

Then you wake up... The second interview I was told I would shadow one of the sales people for the day and another hopeful candidate came along as well. I asked point blank if this was a door to door kind of deal, and she said, "I will answer all questions later" with a certain twinkle in her eye. I was instantly suspicious and assumed it probably was, but I let it play out a bit. We went on the subway to Queens and as she talked more and more to us about the job, it reminded me EXACTLY of my last interview with The Henry Group which was door to door and a scam. I interrupted her after I realized this was deja-vu and finally got her to admit it was in fact a door to door job. I was angry that it took a 30 minute subway ride to get her to admit that especially because I asked before we left the office in the Wall St. Area. I told her I didn't want the door to door job and her mood transformed instantly from pleasant and upbeat to nasty and snippy. "Well you signed a contract so you might as well stay and see how you like it", she said. I told her I didn't work for her, and all the contract I signed said was that "I am aware this 2nd interview is just shadowing and doesn't ensure a full time placement". It was almost comical... She was basically threatening me claiming I had signed my life away to some contract. What was she going to do, hold a gun to my head to keep me on the subway and eventually get off and do the door to door thing with her? It was a joke. After an assortment of dirty looks, attitude, etc. She told me she would "Call headquarters and tell them to terminate my contract". This literally made me laugh because it was obviously just a last ditch effort to see if the intimidation would make me have a change of heart. I saw right through it. I replied smirking, "Sure, please tell them to terminate it! I don't work for you".

After that didn't work, she turned to the other candidate who came with us on the subway. He had been a terrible candidate. His outfit was ridiculous, he didn't even graduate college yet, and he didn't even bring his resume to the interview! Nonetheless, she turned to him after realizing I wasn't falling for the BS and said while pointing at me, "That other guy isn't cut out for the job... But you... You seem like a great candidate!". Now she was trying to use him as leverage to make me say something to the effect of, "Wait... No... Ok I want the job... Take me back!". Too bad I'm not an idiot. I immediately blew up her spot in front of everyone and told the other guy that it was a scam. I told him it was door to door, there is no base pay, no benefits, and that she was just using him as leverage to foster competition. She appeared very upset that I revealed her tricks and the guy said "I don't want to do this either... I didn't realize it was door to door and all that". So now she had taken 2 guys on a 30 minute subway ride and both of us left her empty-handed. We got off at the next subway stop and headed back to Manhattan. Please let this be a cautionary tale. Business people are VERY slick and are commonly wolves in a sheep's clothing. If you don't stand your ground and stick up for yourself and call them out on certain things you smell as being BS, they can and WILL take advantage of you. Do not fall for these door to door sales scams. It's just slave work for a pyramid scheme.
