I received a letter from Paul Snyder of CRB a collection agency dtd April 12 from Sylvania, Ohio stating i owe money from HD Concepts amounting to $141.68 due to a chargeback. And I have 30 days to dispute or they will assume its valid. This is a fraudulent transaction made on my credit card which was reversed by the credit card company. Upon research, I discovered that once you call them and refuse to pay, they threaten you that they will ruin your credit score. I have no intention to pay this. I did not make any transaction nor received any goods from this company. The steps I gathered that can be used against this scam;
1. Everything has to be done in writing and sent thru registered mail. (DO NOT sign your name. As it can end up somewhere else.) OR Record each conversation
2. Do not use home or office fax
3. Log a complaint to the Ohio Attorney General. Www.ohioattorneygeneral. Gov/consumercomplaint
4. Report it to the Federal Trade Commission
5. Contact your postal office (it is against the law to use the US Postal Service to collect or demand payment for fraudulent debt).
