My grandaughter bought a gown for her first prom at the Deb Store in Taunton, Ma on March 25. It was a big deal. Her dad is out of work and they lost their home to foreclosure this past July. She found a dress she loved and fit well for $169.00. Her dad mangaged to come up with the money because it meant so much to her. They have a 7 day return policy and she had no intention of returning it. However, on the 8th day all the gowns were discounted by a 25% sale. I found this out because I was at a different mall and having only a description of the dress, I was curious to see if I could find it there. I asked the sales lady if she thought the other store might do a price adjustment. She thought they might. When my grandaughter went back on the 10 th day after she bought it, they said they could not do anything after the 7 day return policy. She doesn't want to return it but the $42.00 price adjustment would enable her to buy a pair of shoes to complete the outfit. Most reputable stores will do price adjustments on their own sales. It doesn't seem fair that she just happen to be there that Sunday instead of waiting a week. The dress is very pretty but it bothers me to think that she really did get taken. It would have been nothing for them to honor the price it is now on sale for. It would have made her feel like she got a great deal on her dress and told everyone else to go there too. With the economy the way it is, good customer service is not only a good idea but almost a must to stay competitive.
