It all started several months ago when Kathleen Moore, the Founder of Army of Angels, contacted me to see if I wanted to support her and raise awareness about her nonprofit which is said to be a co-alition of businesses, nonprofit organizations, and numerous individuals, well-known and not well-known, that pull together and gear up for many event in the month of April to adress child abuse year-long. As a person who desires to help in any way I can, I willingly said yes to Kathleen Moore and agreed to rally other people to her cause. I did this, mostly through socal networking on Facebook. I had concerns, though, about the lack of transparency and accountability to the public. I know that funds raised from Army of Angels are supposed to go to Klaas Kids Foundation and to Wyn Spring, another child advocate nonprofit. I had concernes about how all this was being presented to the public. On her personal page and her business page, Kathleen Moore has, almost from the beginning, often uploaded photos of herself which are obviously "glamor shots." The way she presented herself on her page and through other social networks, has come across to me as a woman whose motives to prevent and end child abuse may be tainted with some desire to make a name for herself. Not only this, but I feel that people's donation $ would be more efficiently used by sending these $ DIRECTLY to child abuse charities rather than to Army of Angels and to the Awareness events. So, this past week, I wrote a blog about this nonprofit, mentioning some of my concerns about the the cost-effectiveness of the awareness events. A person who "friended" me on Facebook and who is a trusted volunteer with Army of Angels, took offense at my blog, went to Kathleen Moore, "unfriended" me and now Kathleen Moore has also blocked me on Facebook, without disclosure. I was devastated. I do not think that these actions against me, especially with all my support in their behalf, are contrary to the stated mission of this nonprofit. My experience with this nonprofit has left me emotionally bruised, traumatized and has deepened my unwillingness to trust people. I know there are many good people linked to and who support Army of Angels. I hate to bring suspicion upon a nonprofit whic has the support of people whom I respect, like Marc Klaas and Mark Lunsford, among others, but the public needs to be aware that Army of Angels has issues and that its Founder and "higher-ups" in this nonprofit, have no tolerance for anyone who dares to challenge them or raise concerns about their methods.
