When I responded to a job posting on Career Builder.com, I thought I was dealing directly with the U.S. Postal Service. They charged me approximately $37-38 for a packet which was to contain test preparation materials for the test required for the Postal Service. After giving them my credit card number, they told me that there was an additional $18 or so for mailing. Although I thought the USPS could certainly mail something for less than that, I was SO CERTAIN that I was dealing with the USPS, that it didn't occur to me that this was a scam.
When the package arrived today, it had been mailed "media mail" for about $3.00, and was in a generic looking envelope. I started to get a bad feeling. Then I came online and found that many others have been scammed by these people.
I called my credit card company, had to close out my account, and re-open with a new account number. Also filed a report with them (Chase Master Card), so that these people cannot make further charges to my account.in the scope of things, I'm glad they only got about $50 out of me, but I'm still mad as hell.
