This is a complaint for fraud, bogus website and mis-use of public information. This website posts arrest records for the State of Florida. I do not know if that part is legal or not, but what is got to be illegal is to hold the same information "hostage" and charge a $50 fee to remove the information.in my case - my daughter had an arrest record that was later resolved in the courts.
I write this place (had a tough time finding them) as they run no contact details on their website - had to find them through an associate company that does internet investigations.
They write me back 3 times and threaten further postings and demand $50 sent to an unsecure payment services or they will not remove this post. I have copies of all the emails I can share with you. They are very threatening in the content of each email..
My corporation works for a number of law firms and federal agencies in internet investigations, domain and website issues and have for over 12 years now. So we track these folks to Miami - the website is hosted in Lansing Michigan at Liquidweb.com
I find this website and similar websites, very offending and they attempt to hide under the freedom of information act or as they quote -
"The site tampacriminals.com is posting "public records" for anyone to access under Florida's "Government-in-the-Sunshine" manual: "Section 119.011 (12), F.S., defines "public records" to include: all documents, papers, letters, maps, books, tapes, photographs, films, sound recordings, data processing software, or other material, regardless of the physical form, characteristics, or means of transmission, made or received pursuant to law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business by any agency."
I am not familiar with this law but I cannot believe that this same information is to be held hostage for a fee to have it removed and our State finds this OK and legal?
Further - they even go as far as publishing the persons home street photo on every post, as well as address, phone number, etc. This is so unsafe for every person who is listed on this website and scares me as my Daughters home picture and address and phone number is available to anyone to abuse, she lives alone and is only 28 years old.
