A woman named Katie Trevett knocked on our door selling books and magazines. I have NEVER purchased anything from a door to door salesman, but I looked over what she was selling. She said she was earning points for a trip to Italy and was in a competition girls against boys. She was very hyped up and cold and asked to come in so she could show us their products. I let her stand in the doorway to warm up, but she pushed her way into my house further. She said that the complete purchase was taxed deductible and that we would have two copies of the receipt. I saw some books I had wanted to get for my daughter and the price seemed reasonable. She said the check wouldn't be posted for several weeks and that we would have the product before Christmas.
Hesitantly, I agreed after I saw others checks (she had about 20). She filled out the receipt and gave it to me. Before she left I was given a sticker to place on my door so that nobody else from her group would bother me. Well, it is a week after Christmas and I pulled out the receipt so I could contact the company about my order as I never received it and the check was cashed in November. When I looked at the receipt I noticed no contact phone number and became worried. I googled their name and up popped a numerous fraud reports. Finally, I found the website and the have a link to put in your receipt number to search for your product, my receipt number is not found. I left my contact information on their site and told them they have 3 business days to contact me or I will file in small claims court. I have a feeling though that I will never see my money or the product again. It seems that I am not the only one duped by these salesman and something should done about this.
If any one plans on going after this company in court or in the media, I will be more than happy to speak up. I guess I have learned my lesson and will not purchase anything from anyone knocking on my door again.
