My husband and I had filled out an online application through a general lender site and it said that they would get back to us. A couple of days later, on October 5th, we got an email from Valley Stream Services saying we were approved for a loan. Our loan officer was Patrick Orton. He told us that we had been approved for 7500.00 but needed 940.00 up front to secure the loan. We told him that we couldn't afford to do that, so he dropped it down to 600.00. We went to our bank, Wachovia, and our representative talked to Patrick on the phone about the loan, the terms, etc and she read all of the loan papers we were presented. On 10/12 we contacted Patrick because we had the 600. Patrick informed us that it needed to be sent to Maple, Ontario, Canada because that is where the main office was and James Black was the Accounts Receivable manager. After some debate and after talking to Patrick again, my husband Western Union the money. When the 7500.00 wasn't in our account by lunchtime yesterday, we called Patrick and he informed us that the loan had been "reevaluated" and we needed to send an additional 1800.00. We pulled the plug then and demanded a refund. He said that it would take 14-30 days to receive the money. At that point I sent a nasty email to Valley Stream and I filed a complaint with the Better Buisness Bureau. I have talked to Erica at the Canton BBB and she is going over the emails and loan papers currently.
