Complaint / Review
Granite Source
Workmans Comp

To Whom this May Concern:

On July 18 at approximately 8:10am EST at my job at Granite Source in Chantilly, VA on Lee Road. One of the shop supervisors (as I was removing a large and heavy slab of granite from the conveyer rollers off the industrial equipment - machine) Rob, violently forced the granite into my hand, which trapped my pinky finger between the slab and the machine. This caused severance and severe injury to my finger. Billy (The maintenance person) temporarily treated my finger on the job with band-aids & wrappings as it bleed profusively with excruciating and throbbing pain. I was instructed to go back to work, which I complied. My pinky would not stop bleeding I was eventually summoned by the Shop Foreman (Louis) into the office of the Manager, Mr. Doug Woods, who advised me to go and get treatment at an Urgent Care. He specifically instructed me to tell them, ”It didn’t happen here on the job” and threatened me not to report it as a Workman’s Compensation Claim. I looked at him in disbelief, and went to Fort Washington Medical Emergency Center, in Ft. Washington, MD. I was treated with stitches for a severed finger and the X rays revealed that the bone had been shattered due to the impact of the injury. The hospital notified Granite Source immediately to inform them of the injury sustained. When I contacted Mr. Woods at the job, he was very angry that the hospital advised me to have him to fill out an injury report. He refused and angrily commanded that he told me to say it didn’t happen on the job. I have been off for two weeks under the care of the Doctor’s instructions, with absolutely no pay or income. When I returned to work on light duty orders for one week, I was terminated because Linda said there was not enough light duty work here for me to do. I still haven’t received any pay. I have all the documents from the hospital, photos of the injury at the job, a concerned text message from my girlfriend about the injury (when I called her) and proof from Mr. Woods himself.

I really need your help in getting this situation resolved in a fair and timely matter.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support.

Sincerely,

Mr. Michael Conyers
