I am trying to sell my boat. I got a call at 11 PM July 1. The "operator" said she was receiving a message about my boat for sale. They said they were "E-Sprint", some sort of message forwarding company. They wanted my e-mail address, which I gave them. Soon after, I got the first e-mail. They said they were in London, wanted to buy the boat and have it shipped. They wanted pictures, which I sent.
The next e-mail I received said they would pay the full asking price $2500, and include $1300 to forward to the shipping contact. I was suspicious. First, the grammar in the e-mail was awful. Second, why would they buy it sight unseen, full asking price? Third, why not pay the shipping contact seperately? Lastly, why buy a boat in Seattle, and ship it to London? Why not buy a boat there? I checked the number, called back, and they told me that the party was unavailable. So whoever originally called saying they were "E-Sprint" was masquerading to be the party in London.
I guess what they were trying to do is pass a bad check, have me give their shipping guy $1300, they get the boat, and the check bounces, which I then would have to cover (??).
