Consumer Report

The company was "allowed" to advertise on a local website for employment. They claimed that they would pay $200 - $300 a week to be able to place an advertisement on your vehicle. After not hearing back from my initial response for almost a week, the company emailed me back saying they were sending a check and so on (I copied and pasted the email sent to me below).

Dear Applicant,

This email is to let you know that the check of $1450.00 have been sent to your address via UPS and it will deliver to your address today through ups. Check your porch, front door or mail box at home for the package. Here is the tracking number (j2312853015) you can track the package at www.ups.com

Sorry for the delay of this email. As soon as you confirm the delivery of the check of $1450.00, it should be taken to your bank for deposit or have the check cashed, Deduct $400 which is your up front payment for two weeks and send the balance of the funds to the specialist who will be responsible for the advert placement on your car. He Is Currently In California Trying to Get The Materials Needed for The Advert Placement On Your Car, send the balance via money gram transfer.

Send the balance after deducting money gram charges to the information below:

Name... Brittany Russell
Address... (Personal Info Removed)
city - (Personal Info Removed)
state - California
zip code. (Personal Info Removed)

Get back to me with the 8 DIGITS MONEY GRAM REFERENCE NUMBER and the exact amount to be received after money gram charges has been deducted. The specialist shall contact you as soon as he receives the funds.

Regards
Hiring manager.

Now obviously, something does not seem right, there was no paperwork or anything else (W2, etc.) to fill out. The check did in fact come though and it even looks legitimate.instead of taking it to my bank and cashing it (where the REAL problem would of been) I took it to a check cashing company who stated the check was fake and the account number is not valid (does not exist). I emailed the gentleman back that I had spoken too previously (through email ONLY) and he stated, "if you don't want to work... Send the check back." I am just glad that I did not deposit it into my bank and forward money from there where it would cost me several thousand out of pocket in the end.

BE AWARE of anyplace that ever sends you a check and expects you to try to forward money from there.
