I hired Property Inventories Ltd to prepare an inventory for a studio flat that I am the Landlord for. The inventory was to be prepared on a flat containing a brand new bathroom that had not yet been used. The purpose of the inventory was to check in a new tenant. The flat had been cleaned by a professional cleaning company the day before and had been cleaned several times over the period of a year when the flat was empty.
The person that prepared the inventory tried to cut corners by using standard terminology that would avoid a need to create the inventory from scratch. He noted defects where they could not have been because this company is used to using standard terminology. For instance, the inventory report stated that defects on the ceiling had been painted over, that a brand new toilet was in use, that a brand new table had defects, and the list goes on. When this was brought to their attention they refused to change the report or to strike the obvious misconceptions. I was accused of tampering with the report when I tried to create a version of the report that would reflect the true state of the flat. This company is very difficult to work with. I must state that I have worked with many inventory companies since 1987 nad never had the same problems. As a landlord, this is not a company that I would recommend.in fact, I cannot state in sufficiently strong terms how dishonest and intransigent I have found them to be. I am now without an inventory report for this new tenant.
