Two years ago I had the misfortune of renting an apartment to Debbie Linder's daughter, who proved to be a deadbeat, drug-using tenant whose lease was accordingly not renewed upon expiration. To make a long, sordid story short, Ms. Linder, who runs (at least, according to HER she runs) the Sodus office of RG&E, "helped" her daughter move.in so doing, she ran a screwdriver over the motherboard of the 2-year-old energy-efficient gas furnace, causing its immediate failure plus about $600 in damage. She then attempted to provide a "final read" of her daughter's energy use, even though she is NOT employed as a meter reader and even though I had asked for an independent final read. No surprisingly, the numbers submitted by Debbie Linder put a substantial portion of her daughter's energy bill onto my new tenant's account. When I proved this to RG&E executives (and filed a complaint about it with NYS), I was told that Ms. Linder did "nothing wrong" but would be "spoken to" about it.
Now my daughter lives in the apartment vacated by Ms. Linder's daughter. Unfortunately, she paid her first RG&E bill late, but regardless her power was shut off without *any* *notice* whatsoever. The electric service has been restored (probably because I flagged down an RG&E truck on Ridge Road). However, the serviceman failed to restore the gas service, which has left my daughter without power to run her furnace for the past week (anyone who resides in western NY knows it has been unusually cold). She has also been unable to use her kitchen range.
Since we reside in the area serviced by RG&E's Sodus office, I wonder why my daughter is being singled out for this kind of mistreatment. I did get a small claims judgment against Ms. Linder's daughter, which is uncollectable (she walked off her job when the sheriff approached her with the papers).in any event, there is a lien placed on the trailer that Ms. Linder bought and where her daughter resides, and my name will affect her and her daughter's credit for the next 18 years. Therefore, I have no doubt that Ms. Linder will pounce whenever she can, including when my surname appears on a list of overdue payments.
I know better to complain to RG&E about this because nothing was done about it two years ago, and I do regret not pressing criminal trespass and vandalism charges against Ms. Linder. However, I hoping that this complaint will at least restore my daughter's PAID-FOR energy service, and I will investigate with the state police to see if I can indeed file criminal charges against Ms. Linder. Maybe that will finally stop her vengeful behavior and my daughter and I can live in peace without fear of further retaliation.
