I created a account on City Search for my personal training business then decided to opt-in for the pay per click program. Even though it was $. 70 per click I figured that if they would bring new traffic my way which could potentially bring me new clients. Well, after the first month I didn't have 1 person contact me from the pay-per-click program and even better City Search charged me over $500 for the service. I called them and they told me that since their system shows that traffic was routed to my website during the campaign that their job was done and I owed the $519.95. So I canceled the account (which they also added a additional $158.00 charge for 3 days worth of traffic they sent to my site) and I refused to pay the balance.
Today, I look into my business account and they deducted $662.82 from my account. I have yet to receive ONE LEAD from City Search. What even better is my web designer has been tracking the web traffic for the past 6 months to my website without my knowledge. I checked the logs for February and March and found MANY clicks from junk websites like “folksfound.net” “attpx.com” “redirect. Clickshield.net” “folksfound.com” “seek4results.com” “bigapple. Contextuads.com” “ppc. Burnsearch.net” and many more fraudulent clicks. I'm going to contact them tomorrow with this new information and see what they have to say about it. My advice is to track your traffic if you choose to do this type of campaign.
