Mr John Horner is an independent contractor who works with 25 residential homes for real estate companies as a handyman. Our family moved into a nice rental house and were told he would take care of any maintenance repairs needed throughout our lease term. Since we've lived here for almost a year now, we've had several non emergency and some very serious repairs, which have still not been addressed. He always complains that he's too busy with the 25 properties he works on and he STILL has not completed more than three (3) maintenance requests!
Mr Horner never documents anything and submits everything to memory, which is lacking for the most part. Although we submitted all repairs in writing via email or on a ledger to both he and our property manager (realtor), Mr Horner would constantly forget, tell me to send another email to the P.M. & he'd get to them when he had time. He NEVER has time!!! We continued to ask for another handyman but were told Mr Horner is the only option. Great!
Mr Horner tried fixing a door with a toothpick (imagine how long it took before that snapped in half), said he didn't have time to repair nails that were sticking upright from our floor, causing our child to cut her foot open and also said he didn't have time to come look at the new carbon monoxide detector HE installed, which was continuously beeping. Then we have the gas water heater he decided to move, which caused the pipe attaching the gas hose & the water heater to cause a gas leak. Did he come by? Nope! The Fire Department did at 3 am! Mr Horner lied to the P.M. & documented time & false repairs, which we soon thereafter found out about. There are a number of repairs he has yet to fix and we could go on and on about the many issues we've had with he and his services or lack thereof.
We feel it's important that anyone reading this know exactly what they're getting if you are in a situation such as ours and need a handyman. Mr Horner is lacking in many areas and we hope by posting this complaint we are saving you the huge headache he's given us. What a total disappointment in a handyman/contractor!
