My family and I have eaten at Applebees several times over the years in our hometown. It is one of the few family oriented restaurants in the area. It has the potential to be extremely successful. During the last year, we started going to Applebees almost every Thursday night to eat and play Trivia. It's a great outing to play trivia with friends in the community and to enjoy dining out.
However, within the last six months, our local restaurant has drastically declined. The restaurant seating and overall appearance is very worn and rather nasty. The bathrooms emit a strong smell similar to a sewer plant. I truly think their septic system is backed up. Each time we go there, the restaurant temperature feels to be around 65 degrees. It is extremely uncomfortable. This evening I wore my coat the entire evening, and was still very uncomfortable. We have frequently asked the manager to warm it up, just to be ignored. The food we ordered was cold and the service was poor.
I don't understand why a corporation would spend the money to open an establishment with the intent to be successful, only to let it dwindle to a run-down, distasteful place destined to shutdown.
