A good place to avoid, After all, we treat you like family!

They advertise 49 cents per mile for teams! Great money! But first, there must be miles clicking on the odometer for that to amount to a pay check, Right? And that's what we were assured of upon contacting Ndl on 3 different occassions, 49 cpm for teams. So my partner and i inquire futher, how many miles per week are[ Available] and what is the average your teams are presently running per week? Answer, {5200-5800 } per week, and yes, we have that much freight! So, my partner gives his notice at his present job, i was laidoff, and orientation was scheduled for 11/1/10. After 3 days of orientation, were assigned a truck and driver manager and await dispatch. Upon inspecting the truck while we move in, it smells like a dead dog and appears even worse than it smelled, and no new mattress as assured we would get! After moving in we recieve dispatch to Laredo tx, alright, 1100 run, but first we need to pickup our load in E-town Ky 44 miles away. Having been on the clock all day in orientation we were about out of hours, so we head to E-town and pickup our load and decieded to take our 10 hr break before departing to Laredo. 836 miles later in Hillsboro Tx, we start playing pony express and the rest is down hill from there. As a team, the industry standard is what, 800-1000 miles per day? In 11 days we ran a totall of almost 4800 miles, as a team! Yeah, i know, we had been had! When we enqired about the miles and what we were assured of before and after hiring in, we were told by our driver manager, Thats all There Is, imagine that! And for this i gave up my unemployment check of 417.00 aweek and he quit his job making 500.00 for 436 miles a day as a team, which amounts to 106.82 per day, minus living expense on the road, we gotta eat too! And needing to send home a paycheck for the family to eat as well! Do the math, whats left after taxes! So, after 11 days of no miles my partner has had enough of the game and deciededs to quit while were in Ala, and ask to be routed close to home in ky to get out of the truck. The reply to me from ops manager is this-thats not your, meaning me-responsibility to see that he gets home! It didnt set well with me, and i replyed, i feel responsible for this man having quit his job to work for your company and you have failed to provide what you assured both of us on 3 different occassions, and now you want to put this man out of the truck with no accountability or human decencey towards this man, and leave him stranded! I dont think so! So they agreed to route us thru Ky to allow him to get out of the truck. Now, the point thus far is this, we were lied to in every aspect as to the job and what was made available to us as a team. So at this point, im left with the choice to drive solo or to give my notice of quiting, i chose to quit and gave notice to be in Indiana by the 19th of november. From that point on, its layover between each trip of at least 12 hours and my 10 hour break not included in that! Gee, what a mess, and one disappointment after another. But to keep them from putting something bad on my DAC report that would prevent me from getting a real job, i did what was right and fulfilled my end of the deal, unlike NDL! The sad part is this, i attempted to re-claim my unemploment benefits and was denied as expected, by what NDL stated, that being{they had provided all that was reasonable and necessary for me to provide for my family}and that I did not pursue all reasonable alternatives before quitting! When your told by your driver manager that {thats All there is in regards to miles} Thats is all there is to the {reasonable alternatives}. I did what was expected of me as a driver, on time all the time with all pickups and deliveries, respected there equipment, courteous to there customers, turned in all paperwork. I did my part of the agreement, they however, lied from day one and made no excuse's for not doing as they stated in there advertisments and by the words of there own representitives with whom i dealt with. They are are suppose to be professionals and present themseves as such, not only to there customers, but those who service there customers, there DRIVERS! It is my hope that, each of those who have made there living at NDL by lying to those of us who are honest and hard working and ask for nothing more than to be treated with the same regards and concern that they themselves would desire from anyone, particularly there drivers who they say they value so highly, and say they will provide every reasonable and necessary means to provide that driver with a paycheck to provide for his family, that They will not ever have to be at the mercy of someone LIKE THEM, liars and decievers in the worst way. My advice to anyone considering employment with NDL, look somewhere else, they will NOT do as they STATE to you, and show no concern or consideration for you or Your Family. The trucking industry has gone to hell in a hand basket. And companies like this are the cause, but, so are we drivers who allow them and there likes to go unscathed by what IS Not said by YOU the Driver when we as drivers are treated less than a professional by those who feed upon our ignorance. Thus. This report, to hopefully warn drivers of at least one company to avoid like the plague or aids. They are not someone you want to work, One more thing, i worked for this company in 05, and they were excellent at that time, fulfilled there every word to the tee! Hence, the reason i re-applied to them in Only to discover that things were not as they were, and disappointed to say the least i was.
