Jen Gawor Unbelieveable Scam! Should have know better

On November 19, early in the morning, I received a phone call from a woman stating she was Jen Gawor from Stanford Who's Who. She told me that I had been selected to be published as an Executive in Stanford Who's Who. With this I would have access to 65,000 top executives who could help my business grow. She told me that I had a lot to offer and could be published for my work. She stated that she would send out the profile they had on me to be reviewed and sent back to them with changes if necessary. The cost would be a flat seven hundred and some odd dollars, as a one time fee. I was also supposed to get two fully paid round trip airfare tickets and discounts at hotels around the world. Before hanging up she told me that I could call her any time if I had questions.

She really caught me off guard, as I told her that I was not feeling well that day. She was certainly a fast talker, as I normally would have hung up on her. Anyway I fell for her pitch and unfortunately gave her my credit card number.

Ten days later I received my credit card bill with a charge to Stanford Who's Who for $818.95. They had not sent me anything but certainly took my money fast enough. I called the phone number given me by Jen Gawor, but that number was to the Internet Bank who is not connected to Stanford. However, the extension number worked.

Fortunately, my credit card bill had the phone number for Stanford Who's Who. I called them and got a voicemail for Jen Gawor. I hung up and called up again and was put on line that just kept ringing and ringing with no answer. Hung up again and called back asking for a supervisor and was told he was out to lunch and it was 3:00 pm. I called back a couple of more times and still put on the constantly ringing phone being answered by no one. I asked the person answering the phone if anyone worked there other than her and she said "Yes, but they are all on the phones or out of the office." Finally, I called back a 5th time and left a voicemail message on the line for Jen Gawor. Now it was 25 minutes later and long distance phone calls I will have to pay for so, yes, I was angry. After I left the message stating that I knew they were doing a scam and either give me my money or I would sue.

Later on November 29, I received a phone call from a young man stating that he heard my voicemail message. His claim was that he did not appreciate my crude language, as I apparently stated their "services" were scams and BS. I told him that I want my money refunded and asked if I would get my money refunded. He said I was told that I would receive documents in 10 to 15 days and he no longer wanted to talk with me and hung up.

Since I did not sign any contract or receive any services I should be able to receive my money back. I am not working with my bank to get my money refunded. I sure wish I hadn't been sick and vulnerable to the scam phone call!

I went online and found a number of people claiming they have also been scammed by Stanford Who's Who. One of the people who wrote claimed that she once worked for Stanford Who's Who and explained how they work to scam people. Please see Stanford Who's Who.com to view a number of complaints. Wish I had seen this when she called.
