Hi, my husband and I have had Global Discovery vacations since 2004 and I have to say this company has changed our lives. I will explain in detail how it works as we travel 4 weeks every year. You can purchase from 1 to 6 star credits on a membership. A star credit stands for 3 things. They are as follows 1. A star credit equals a one week vacation in a one bedroom during off peak time. (It depends where you want to go and when for peak time and off peak time.) 2. A star credit also equals a trade to upgrade to peak time. 3. A star credit also equals a trade for each additional bedroom. Let me explain, as Im sure you thinking what is she talking about. O. K We have 6 star credits every year for the remainder of our lives and they carry our to my sons life. Global gives you the option to pay for upgrades or you can give them star credits for upgrades. Once you send in your request, which by the way, they will get you when and where you want to go 97 percent of the time. (ours has a 100 percent success rate) they call you within 2 days to tell you they have received your request. I have always been booked within 1 week. Ok time to pay for my vacation oh, the options that I have. We will say that this is my first week Im booking with global connections so, global has a 389.00 yearly activity fee which I will only pay once for the year no matter how many vacations I take with them. BUT, its called an activity fee for A reason, if you dont use global you do not pay this fee (try getting out of A timeshare maintainace fee) and this 389.00 does not accure each year. OK back to paying, so IM paying my 389.00 because Im doing activity on my membership, Now they will ask me how many star credits I would like to use or do I want to pay the upgrade fees, Oh I forgot to tell you where we are going. My husband and i are going to Maui staying for 14 nights at the Kaanapalli Beach Club resort April. (this really is where we are going) April in Maui is off peak time and we are staying in a one bedroom. We have been to Hawaii during peak time also with global. For every week you book to travel it cost us 96.00. So now Ive paid 389.00 to open my membership and 96.00 for the first week and another 96.00 for the second week. Since April is off peak I dont need to upgrade and since we only need A one bedroom we dont need to upgrade. However i do have to give them back a star credit for each week. Remember I told you that one star credit equals a one week stay in a one bedroom in off peak time. Total my husband and I are paying for 14 nights at The Kaanapali beach club resort is 389.00 plus 96.00 plus 96.00 plus 2 star credits leaving us 4 star credits. Ilooked up how much it cost to stay there for 14 nights and it was 6006.00 not including tax, look it up. IF WE WANTED TO GO DURING PEAK TIME WE COULD CHOOSE TO PAY THE PEAK upcrade fee of 275.00 or give them back Astar credit. This would be the same for each week. Also if we wanted another bedroom you can choose to pay 189.00 for each additional bedroom or give them back A star credit for each bedroom, I know, I know at first it sounds confusing but its really simple. For example the same two weeks at the same resort in a two bedroom would look like this. Pay my 389.00 plus 96.00 for the first week plus 96.00 for the second week plus one star credit for the first week plus another star credit for the second week. Now here is where I get to choose, do I feel like paying 189.00 for the second bedroom for week one or do I give global back another star credit. Do I feel like paying 189.00 for the second bedroom for week twwo or give them back another star credit. Well if your like me, Idont wont to spend any more money so IM CHOOSING TO GIVE THEM back star credits. So now I can go in a two bedroom for 14 nights and it will cost me 389.00 plus 96.00 plus 96.00 plus 4 star credits, leaving me with 2 still left. Now lets say Im taking the same two weeks both weeks in A two bedroom but I want to go during peak time. Decision time again, Ican pay an upgrade peak fee per week of 275.00 each week or give them A star credit not pay any more money and give them 2 more star credits. So now same week, two bedrooms during peak time 389.00 plus 96.00 plus 96.00 for the second week plus 6 star credits. Oh yea how much did I say I looked it up for, that was 6006.00 for 14 nights and that is only for a one bedroom during off peak time. We have been on 26 vacationd since 2004 with global 4 times to Hawaii all in ocean front rooms, mexico where we had our own pool off our bedroom, kissimee in a gated community, cruises where we have been upgraded free, gatlinburg where the place we stayed was on thr travel chanel, to vegas and stayed on the strip, jamaica at an all inclusive, ocean city in ocean front room, and the list goes on and on. Ive read reviews where people have issues with global and I have one thing to say., read what they ask you to do. Global ask you to give them 120 days notice if you want to travel during peak season and 90 days for off peak if you do this they can stay in their 97 percent success rate, Global also told us upfront they cannot get us to new york because there is only one timeshare there. Back in 2004 they told us they could not get us to key west but now they have inventory there. I love global love love love them
