Here is a complaint I emailed to U Haul: It explains my situation! Outrageous thieves! They waited 3 weeks before commiting fraud! Hello, my name is Natalia and my contract #07224707. Please, call me ASAP regarding your fradulent activity that you commited without my permission or authorisation! You charged my 12 year old daughter's 'Child Support" state card without my permission or authorization.in fact, I never even paid with her card at Pick up! I am filing a complain with BBB and actually was amazed to find out how many complains are filed against you on the internet! I paid you with a different card at pick up for a "WRONG PIECE OF EQUIPMENT"!!! I had to make two trips out of state and pay thousands of dollars for gas and movers! Double! YOU said that 17 footer was plenty for my 2 bedroom, 2 bath appartment wiyh a baby grand piano and I had over a third of my place still back in LA and not one inch availible it a truck!!! I rented it on July 9th, on my way to Las Vegas (my wedding was on JULY 10th).instead of getting ready for my wedding I suffered 14 extra hours on the road back to LA and Vegas during the night, $700 in gas (Out of my pocket), $ 500 extra for movers... Stress, grief, sleepless night. When I asked you about a bigger truck at location in Hollywood, your rep. Saul said that you don't have one in stock and you didn't have one at another location as well. When I called U haul first, You representative assured me over the phone that 17 footer was plenty enough and I am not an expert at Trucks, Sorry. The manager, SUPY at the Hollywood location was extremely rude on the phone and hang up on me 2 times when I explained my situation and begged her not to charge me for extra mileage, because I was already spending over a thousand extra on a second trip to LA and Back. She yelled, was rude and said that I can sue her if I so desire, but I will be charged for extra mileage, like it was my fault that you sold me a wrong piece of equipment! I kept calling you but got nothing but a cold responce. I spoke to Cecilia, executive assistant at 1 800 528 4285. Still, no understanding and I was blamed for not getting a bigger truck. I got what you sold me, what you offered and what you said was more than enough!!! I barely made it to Las Vegas for my wedding, 30 minutes prior... Barely alive, no sleep, exousted and upset over the loss of almost $1500 extra dollars. I researched complains about U haul on the internet and was amazed at thousands of them. When I returned the truck in Las Vegas, I explained my grief and the rep. Told me that if I don't wan'gt to authorise the transaction for extra miles, they won't charge me without my concent. It was on July 14th. Today I found out that almost 3 weeks later you got a hold of my minor daughter's credit card (her state BofA card on which she recieves $ 350 a month in Child Support. I never used this card with you and paid with my other card and signed for it at the time of Pick up. My little girl's child support card was given to hold the reservation and I was promised that it will never be touched! It's not even my money! My daughter had two heart surgeries and you (3 weeks later) commited this outrageous, unautorized fraud! Shame on you! You caused me and my family so much pain and suffering along with a massive loss of money for a double trip in 24 hours!!! On the day of my wedding I was forced to ride your truck for a second 14 hour trip!!! And you still charged me for extra mileage, despite my suffering. I demand that you reverse the charges if you don't want any major legal problems! You ruined my wedding day and stole my child's Birthday money from a "government child support card"!!! You better compensate me for all the pain and suffering or I will take major legal action against your fraud! Look on the internet! You are famous for unautorized transactions and fraud!
