Black Mountain Bicycles, 9158 Mira mesa BLVD. San Diego CA 92129
Since this isn’t the first time this has happened here, I’ve decided to make it public. I brought my bike in for some repairs and they simply over charged me, this time refusing to correct the blatant overcharges.
1. I had a chain replaced that they charged me $45 for, plus labor. The problem is the most expensive chain they sell at the shop is only $18.
2. They charged me $10 for Brake pads that they retail for $6. On top of that, they charged me $15 in labor for what should have not taken more than 5 minutes to do.
3. They charged me $80 for a chain ring that they sell at retail for $45.
4. I didn’t verify the cost they charged me for the Pulley’s but I have to assume this was higher than their retail pricing s well since it was on the invoice for $55. What I mean by that, is everything, except the cables were written as round numbers vs. For example $34.99, etc.
I had questioned their charges at the time paying for them and they responded with ‘that’s what we charge’ and since this wasn’t the first time this happened to me there, I decided to just let the public know. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB.
To top it off, the adjustments they performed were incorrect and my chain keeps dropping off when I shift to the small ring. Unfortunately I didn’t discover it until the middle of a Triathlon. I dropped my chain four times in the race and based on my computer average vs. The race timing, I lost 1 mph in my average speed due the stopping to fix periods.
