My daughter, her two year old and my 17 year old grandaughter went to Zellers to purchase the same stools for me, that she had purchased a couple of weeks before. She purchased four of them, the same # that I had wanted that day. I was working late and was afraid that they might be sold because she had mentioned that they were now on clearance, I gave them my credit card and a permision note just in case they were asked, we have done this many times in the past. I trust them explicitly! They were gone for a long period of time, I was very worried, when they finally arrived back at my store they told of the incident that had occured. My daughter and grand-daughter had been charged with shoplifting, apparently while they were trying to push around a large stroller 2 stools that were already built, 2 stools still in a large box, a couple of items that they had picked up had fallen under the babies diaper bag. The security staff said that they had seen this, if I had noticed this I would have stopped them at the door. They proceeded to pay for the items and missed the ones under the buggy. They let them leave the building and circled them outside and humiliated them above and beyond what could be deamed as normal. They not only had my credit card, but she has her own and my grandaughter always has card blance on the occasions when I offer up my card. They were held for a long period of time, my grandaughter, 17, was dismissed from her position at the mall because of this incident. Your unprofessional security team wrote down that she also had stollen from her place of bussiness, instead of that she worked there. They have been finger printed and mug shot. There have been requests for a large amount of money from both of the girls, they are not guilty of anything, except forgetfulness. I have been a customer @ Zellers for over 40 years, check the records. We need an apology and hopefully when this goes to court the judge will see that this is so wrong. It will be hard for me not to shop there any more, but I am afraid that if retributions are not made this is the way it will have to be. I am the manager at a retail store and deal with loss prevention daily, this incident was handled so badly, they accused her of being a professional thief, insinuated the snack my grandaughter was eating was stolen, it was because of the snack that we had provided that she accidently knocked the items under the diaper bag. She reached for baby wipes. Two of the cashiers walked by the truck and called them losers. My daughter loves to shop and does a lot of favors for me, this type of behavior from a retailer can certainly be destructive. I understand that the security company is not part of Zellers staff and therefore would not make money unless they have some results for their type of loss prevention.
