My sister was recently killed in Louisiana. She was 39 and they found her body on the side of the freeway with her head crushed. As you can imagine the entire family was in shock. When I went to make the burial arrangements for my parents I was amazed at the amount of ridiculus fees involved in a funeral.
When I questioned the fees and said that we did not need some of the services then I was told that we had to take them or it would cost more for the funeral. Her funeral cost almost $14,000.00. There is a fee in the invoice for "Professional Service Fees" for $2,095.00. What kind of fee is that?"Visitation Fee" of $260.00."Funeral Ceremony" fee was $595.00 then they add the fee for the minister on top of that of $100.00. I wish someone would investigate the funeral homes as they are severely ripping people off and taking advantage of the grief families are going through due to the loss of a loved one.
There should be some sort of regulation to protect families in this time. Not to be taken advantage of just because they are not thinking clearly due to the stress of the death of a loved one.
