I saw this doctor for an annual physical that was supposedly covered 100% by my health insurance carrier. The doctor would not provide the results of my bloodwork over the phone and required me to schedule an additional appointment to discuss the results in person. Even though all of my results were normal, the doctor ordered an EKG for "precautionary reasons" during the additional appointment that they "required" to discuss my bloodwork. This provider then billed my insurance company incorrectly for my physical (diagnostic instead of preventative), as well billing me for the "additional" appointment and unnecessary tests. Due to their billing errors, the labs that did the bloodwork are also sending me invoices creating a paper trail fiasco and follow-up nightmare. This all after I explicitly told them that my appointment was for an annual physical, and as an in-network provider, the service should be covered at 100%.
This doctor appears to be engaged in ordering and administering unnecesary tests to generate additional income along with purposely billing insurance companies with incorrect codes to try and obtain double payment. When notified of their billing errors in writing, they ignore the information and continue to send invoices, going so far as to threaten collections against the patient. My insurance company verified that the doctor billed the services incorrectly, and this appears to be a common fraudulent scheme with this provider. Their billing department is indignant and extremely rude upon being informed of their errors, and very slow to correct their mistakes. They also insist that their practices are "customary and legal"!!! Approach with caution!
