I have been a business owner since 2001. I am a father of 3, and a husband of 14 years, I am 38 years old. Due to state of the economy, I have had to begin seeking other employment. Responding to an add by Palm Bay Ford. I was contacted by Clayton Flynn of Palm Bay Ford, for an interview. Upon arriving to the interview (15 minutes early) I walk into the sales area and say to the 1st person I see, Hi, my name is Shannon Young and I have an appointment With Clayton Flynn at 1:00 today. The Palm Bay Ford representative never once showed me any professional courtesy of any kind, as a matter of fact he seemed angry or annoyed by my presence. Palm Bay Ford's Mission Statement states... That they are all about friendliness, integrity, etc. My 1st impression of Palm Bay Ford was cold, rude, unprofessional, and condescending to say the very least! As I mentioned, I have owned my own business and have never treated any of my customers the way that I was treated, I have never treated a total stranger that I contacted for employment recruiting the way that I was treated at Palm Bay Ford! I don't know if the representative that I spoke with was Clayton Flynn, he never introduced himself, he never greeted me, He never welcomed me to Palm Bay Ford. He vaguely directed me across the room to a counter with multiple stacks of papers and told me to find the one that's the application and fill it out! He didn't get up and show me where the applications were among all the other stacks of papers on the counter. He also seemed annoyed or aggravated by my confusion and my repeated requests from him on which stack of papers covering the counter was in fact the actual application forms. I almost left right then. I eventually found the application form with the Palm Bay Ford's representative impatience and repeatedly raising his voice to me across the sales floor. After completing the application, I brought it up to the counter where the Palm Bay Ford representative was sitting. There was another Palm Bay Ford representative standing at the counter talking to the man, That I spoke with upon my arrival there. I politely and patiently waited while they were talking amongst themselves. The Palm Bay Ford representative standing in front of me at the counter, eventually turned around and acknowledged my presence. He also seemed impatient and irritated and annoyed by my presence.in a talking down matter towards me - He says, CAN I HELP YOU WITH SOMETHIN'? I reply, I just finished filling out an application and was just waiting to hand it in to the gentleman in front of you. He rudely told me, he didn't ask me (he told me) YEAH, GO SIT DOWN OVER THERE AND I'LL BE THERE IN A MINUTE!!! Again with the arrogance and condescending tone. I don't know why, but I was made to feel belittled as if I was bothering both of them by being prompt, dressed professionally, and enthusiastic for an interview that they called me for. (???) After being scolded to go sit over there and wait! (by the 2nd Palm Bay Ford representative) I decided that any company that allows their representatives to treat their employment recruits with such disrespect and rudeness upon the 1st interview process... Upon the 1st meeting. Was not a company that I would ever want to work for or do business with on any terms on any level. (For the 1st time in my entire life, I walked out of an interview!) I am an extremely hard worker who values integrity & dignity & respect, as well as family values. I believe that every human being deserves to be treated with sincerity and kindness.
I was not treated with any of the above mentioned at Palm Bay Ford or by its representatives that I unfortunately came in contact with today. If that mission statement has any real value at all to the owner/owners there at Palm Bay Ford, then they must know that it is not being represented by the 2 representatives that i unfortunately had to deal with today.
In closing, I want nothing, (I have nothing) to gain personally from this. I will never go back there for employment or to purchase a vehicle. My sole purpose is to bring awareness to the those that might be thinking of seeking any employment opportunity with Palm Bay Ford Sales Department... To seriously re-think that decision.
