THE FUN SHIPS Price hike attempt AFTER I paid in full. No help for handicapped

We booked six BALCONY cabins on the Carnival Legend for 2-7 sailing. Almost everyone was a past cruiser with carnival. I booked an 8A room. And was upgraded to 8E. Past cruiser rate. I booked as a single but informed them I would likely add a second guest. They informed me it would be no problem and I could add them up until the day before I sailed. The only additional fees would be taxes and gratuity.

I asked if there was any benefit to naming the person early and they said NO.
They told me if I added a name and changed it there would be a fifty dollar charge.
THEY required me to immediately pay in full for the cabin... And I did.

I waited until the second guest booked airfare. And then tried to add the name.
Carnival tried to rip me off and charge me several hundred dollars more. To the going rate for the cabin. That I had already paid in full. They told me the past cruiser rate was no longer in effect. HUH? I already paid in full. It was a SCAM.By Carnival.

It was ONLY because I had the contact name and notes of the original booking. And I was still within the cancel and get a full refund which I threatened to do. And demanded to talk to management. That they "let me keep the other rate".

I told them I would cancel all six cabins. And I would have. Shoot. We all arrived the day before and there was another cruise line we could have switched too. Ha ha ha.

CARNIVAL employees thieving unscrupulous CROOKS. SCAM artists.

There is no other way to look at it.

Also be aware, even if you book a cabin. They can kick you out. If the cabin holds more than you book. Thus if your cabin holds three and you book two. They can unilaterally decide to move you. This is a problem if you are near friends and family... Or have special needs... Like want to be at a particular location.

I do not like a company that goes back on their word... Or where I have to feel I have to keep careful notes as to my conversations because they will not "do the right thing".

I don't understand how they can jack up a rate for a cabin after you "pay in full".

I also contacted [email protected] to ask about Mahogany Bay... Carnivals dock in Roatan and handicapped accessibility. This individual never responded to my email inquiry.

THE company does have wheelchairs available but we were not told... And we never got to use the chair except for a small period. How goofy is that?
I resent Companies that only want to jack up my rates and are non-responsive to my needs.

I tried to pre plan. And this associate does not take the time and courtesy to respond. It was VERY important to know. And they cannot be bothered. SHAME on Carnival. Shame on [email protected]

Carnival & developer spent millions on a Roatan dock and failed miserably to consider passenger needs. They did not consider handicapped passengers, nor regular passenger comfort in the heat... But theyr sure made sure each passenger ran the gauntlet through store after store.

Then this cruise was hours (3 pm instead of 8 A.M.) late due to water balance issues (mechanical failure).. Where they had to sail more slowly.

Thousands of folks missed their flights home.
Carnival told passengers find your own way back.
And they had no clue about any compensation.

We had internet access, and knew about the change in advance, and were able to snag the last two seats. Our airfare was jacked up by over a thousand dollars for two folks. Ouch. $150 change fee per passenger. And the difference in ticket price.

We were not aware and carnival had no idea what the compensation would be, if any. We booked the flights anyway... Like most folks we needed to get back to work. Carnival later offered $200 change after the fact with documentation... Or a hotel... If you could not get a flight.

We were able to get the airline to waive the change fee... And ended up with only $616 extra costs. Carnival said they would cover that.

So buy trip insurance, buy the airline through carnival. Or better yet go with a more responsible and responsive cruise line.

Most folks had the final daily and a half of their cruise screwed worrying about the ship limping home. Missed connections, etc. If you did not have airfare. You were in no way compensated... And you traveled with people grumbling. About their messed up plans.

Way to go Carnival.
