Complaint / Review
Securitas, Usa
Fired for not being Loyal/Discrimination

In May 0f 2006 I was the Assistant Security Manager at a Large Hospital in Bangor Maine. Dana Cunningham is the Branch Manager fore Securitas, USA.

I reported a Security/Safety issue at another Hospital. The Security Manager was out playing golf on Company time and the hospital called looking for him. I was called by HR Manager Jerry Kirby and told that Dana Cunningham wanted to see me and that he wanted to fire me for reporting this incident. Later Jerry called me back and stated he had talked Dana out of firing me but that Dana still wanted to see me. I met with Dana and at the branch and was told that I would receive a written reprimand. That I would be fired if I ever did this again. Dana stated we cover for each other around here.

In August I reported Mike Parsons, the Secretly Manager over me at this site had been in my Securitas Email and I wanted something done. Mike had been seen accessing my private account by the training officer Tristan Shank. Dana again had it covered up and told Tristan and I if we couldn't get along with Mike that we would be gone.

On 09/09/09 I was told I would no longer be doing payroll for the site. This was because I had found out Mike Parsons had been receiving time and one half for holidays. He is salaried and is not supposed to receive any extra pay. This again was covered up and Mike was told he had to pay the money back. No disciplinary action was taken.

On 09/30/09 Mike Parsons sent the Clinical Supervisor in the ED an email telling her not to be discussing security issues with me as I had no right to handle them.

On September 30th I emailed Dana Cunningham about my raise and I was told I would have to wait until the dust settles. He was eluding to the fact I had stirred up problems for he and Mike Parsons.

On December 8th at the Branch Christmas party I learned that another person had been chosen already to fill a Security Manager position at another hospital even though the opening had not closed. VP Mike Farrello was on speaker phone and asked Dana Cunningham if the guy that was taken the Manager Position was there. Dana turned very red and stated you mean the guy that is going to fill in until we pick someone. Dana to me for the mistake. He later put the two of us through an oral board and the next day told me I did a good job, but he chose the other guy.

I asked Jerry Kirby if this had all been a smoke screen to appease me and he would not answer me. So i assumed it was.

On January 14 I was told to take the LT. Bars off my uniform as Dana didn't want me wearing them. No one else was asked to do this. On 9 I was told by Mike Parsons to remove my Master's degree heading on my email, again because Dana didn't want it on their.

In April I was asked to take over another site and become the Security Manager. A place where they couldn't keep a Manager because the site contact person didn't like Secuirtas.

In July I was fired for not being Loyal to Dana Cunningham and the company. I had gone on vacation and when I returned I heard from several employees that the client contact had called me a "Lazy Fat Ass". So i had called Dana Cunningham to see what he wanted me to do. He had told me to make a complaint to the contacts boss. Which I did. Two weeks prior to this at the new contract signing everyone had agreed I was doing a good job and was very professional. The client called Jerry and Dana down to the site and showed them some emails that I had sent addressing their concerns with pay issues. I had also apologized for Dana complaining to the client about how I had cost him for me to take the position there. This was the real reason Dana was mad and wanted to fire me.

I was called to the branch office on July 22nd and fired without any warning. I had been employed at Securitas for 3 years. I had received 2 Supervisor of the month awards along with $150.00 each time. I had received 7 raises in that period of time too.

I had been keeping notes on all of these occurrences, and I knew that Mike Parsons had Tristan and I illegally billing the hospital for Premium over time. So I contacted the Securitas hot line and made a complaint. I sent all of my notes with dates and times about all of these facts and others. Nothing was ever done. Except Securitas decided to fight my unemployment. They stated that I had done some illegal things by discussing some of the pay issues with the client and I shouldn't have. I had to hire a lawyer. I won the first 2 hearings. The first one they never called or showed for. The second they sent Dana, Jerry and representation. I won that one and they have now appealed it again. Nothing has been done to Dana Cunningham for his Management practices and nothing has been done to Mike Parsons for his illegal activities.

There is much more I could write about. But it would take all day. Such as Mike Parsons screening out bad evaluations by the of his management skills, then throwing them away. Such as Danna Cunningham continually threatening employees with their jobs if they were to speak to upper Management when it came to check on things. Such as many reports to the hot line by employees being swept under the carpet by Danna, so he didn't look bad.

Upper Management doesn't want to do anything either. I sent a complete set of my notes to the Regional President and the Regional HR Manager. Not one thing has been corrected or has anyone received disciplinary action. After reading other accounts of how this company has treated other people, I guess I should feel special.
