Textbook Wheel Blame USPS for damaged package and no books

I shipped approximately 2 semesters worth of books to this company on 12.22.09. I seemed so easy, they were even nice enough (yeah right) to pay for shipping. I thought even though I was only getting about 1/3 of the original expense it was better then nothing... Wrong! Nothing and keeping the books would have been better. I sent 2 emails requesting status as of 01.29. and finally on 02.01. here is their response;
Hello Lynda,
On 1/26/10 we received your package busted open, broken and empty. We are very sorry. While the postal service has a good track record they do occasionally lose and/or damage packages.
We are extremely disappointed with the US Postal Service. We try to take as much responsibility for what happens, but in all actuality it is out of our hands until we are notified from the post office that we have received packages to be picked up. Packages are shipped USPS Media Mail which has no tracking system at all.
Being that we are the only textbook buyers in the area, our local post office assumes all loose textbooks belong to us and periodically sends us a boatload of loose books for us to sift through and try to figure out what orders they belong to. This is virtually impossible to do considering it is just a textbook... No order number, name, address, or even package to go off of.
When we receive inquiries like your own we go through our shelves of unclaimed 'loose' books received from the USPS in hopes of matching up to your order. Unfortunately we were unable to find your books.
This is why you are required to check off the USPS Disclaimer when placing an order so that you are made aware of the risks of sending your order through the US Postal Service. Once again we are sorry and thank you for your patience. We will continue to look for your book (s) as we periodically receive batches of 'loose' books from the USPS. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Sincerely, Jen
