New Digital Meters WILL HELP US GO INTO DEBT! Bill doubled showing highest amount I have ever seen

Oncor is a total Ripoff. Since they have installed the new meter everybody I spoke to (about 120 people) claims their bill doubled. I have lived in my house for over 5 years and every winter me and my husband camp out in the living room lighting the fireplace to stay warm and keep control over our electricity bill. I take some extreme measures to keep my bill somewhat reasonable. I wash dishes by hand, hang up my laundry for it to dry, keep my house colder than my family likes it to be in the winter month (around 68-70 degrees) and make sure we never have more than one light on anywhere.

When I called the representative they had all the excuses ready; coldest winter ever, full house around holidays, people cook etc. None of these things applied and even if that was the case I should not have seen my bill being the highest ever. Holidays come and go every 3 month - every single year, we celebrate the same holidays, cook the same food and have the same people over. Oncor supposinly reads the meters. I get that! But then can they explain to me how I end up with a $240 electric bill when I am gone for 4 weeks and nothing in my house is being used (uses electricity). I am so fed up of being ripped off. Who can afford a $400 electric bill? I am contacting an attorney to get some legal advise because you know these companies rip us off and they will keep doing it until they face a civil lawsuit.
