I had a bad experience with this person as it related to a child custody case. Yes, it is quite emotional because it is dealing with the kids, but I waited a good while to think about it all before I started to take any action. Then I realized how blatant his actions/inactions were. I finally found this site in order to attempt to let others know to be careful about court appointed/suggested evaluators. It is apparent that the State Boards only care if their members pay their dues. It is quite easy for a psychologist to ride the "cash cow" once he gets established. After that, he is unstoppable. There is no one to complain to. Try looking up psychologist complaints on the web. Now compare this to looking up Home Depot complaints. See the difference?
Dr. Sam is well educated and is very likable. But, I believe that the $ have gone to his head. His final custody report did not resemble the facts as I knew them, even though I provided many - in black and white. But, he still twisted them around to match the story that he thought he should write. It saved him a considerable amount of time, thereby allowing him to take on even more work. He even takes calls during his sessions, and cuts the sessions short, at the beginning and the end, so he can take more phone calls. But, it doesnt matter because you cant do anything about it. He already got your full payment - upfront, so who are you going to complain to? If you get pissed at him, he may throw the case the other way.
My custody evaluation took over 5 months when it was only supposed to take 2 or 3. It took that long because... I dont know why. No one created any delays but him. He will forget things, he will not write things down in his notes, he will continually re-schedule your appointments, he will give all of your confidential information to the other side, his report will not include important things, like why the other party knowingly disregards court orders, etc. His report reminded of my days in high school where I would end up writing my essay at midnight the night before before it was due. I would find a few facts and some quotes and throw something together, hoping for the best. The only problem was that I faced the reality of receiving a bad grade.
Hopefully, this report will allow others to get a taste of what Dr. Sam is all about. I dont know if there are any good evaluators out there, but I do know that Dr. Samuel Romirowsky did not make a "good faith" effort to act in the best intersts of my children.
