I got the smae letter as others have reported but instead of trying to look it up I called the number. Twice actually. First to check it out??? And later to advise that I was ready to deposit their check. Since I had talked to a 'live' person twice, I thought this might really be a true offer. After about a week of the check being deposited I thought it had made it through fine, then I get a notice from the bank that it was a CLOSED ACCOUNT.
Friday (Dec 18) I got on the phone and talked again with a guy that told me they had stopped payment on the check because they had been trying to get in touch with me via phone and I explained that I didn't get any calls from them and I was holding off long enough to make sure the check was good before I did the evaluation. He said he understood that and he said unfortunately because of the holiday schedule no one to handle the reissue and refund of my $15 bank charge was in until Tuesday.
I have been trying to get back in touch with someone at that same number ever since December 22nd but all I get is a RECORDING saying no one is in at this time. I have continured almost daily at all different times of the day & night & even used a different phone (in case they had my number blocked) but to no avail.
