I want to share my horrible;experience with anyone thinking about working for this company. I have 14yrs experience OTR driving. I went to work for this company because they were one of the few that were still hiring, in the reccession. I knew it was a mistake, but ive made them before. Orientation was like an assembly line;a line for the drug test;physical, an dexterity test, which consisted of lifting a cart full of 45lbs weights, pulling yourself up on a table the height of the trailer floor. Doing 10,1/2 knee bends, an a push/pull test The class had around 65 students an 15 experienced drivers. Companies that train students, recieve $ from the goverment.
I shut off my truck because my dispatcher Kevin Blizzard, would constantly harrass me. I went to work for them in july. An if it was hot the truck ideled. When it became cold. I would shut off the truck an burry myself under several blankets. That caused me to get sick, breathing in cold air, an i somehow got the flu.in november i changed trucks an got one with a bunk heater (great), one problem it couldnt be run all night because it would wear the batteries down. And then the truck wouldnt start. No fail safe device was installed, except for the low battery warning buzzer. Then id start the truck to charge the batteries, an naturaly get yelled at for ideling the truck. I blocked my dispatcher from calling me, but that didnt stop the harassement;he would leave a msg for me to call him. So i went back to burring myself under several blankets, only to have fluid build up behind my ear. This company does nouthing but crap on the drivers, when i would put in for home time"giving 2 wks notice"I was told by my dispatcher, "i dont have an opening at that time. Bs. I didnt get home for thanksgiving, was out for 6weeks.
This is how i got fired, 12/08 I went to the doctor complaining of an earache, Doc discovered fluid behind my eardrum. I went back to work on the 9th. The doc gave me nose drops to dry up my sinuses (within 5 days i was having nose bleeds after waking up.) An i have blood stains on my pj top to prove it. My ear was still hurting. On dec 15 I arrived on time to the family dollar whse in Morehead KY, to do a drop n hook. I waited for 1hr an 20minuets, talking with several other drivers, who had been there for several hours an when i was my turn to b called, a red headed woman with one lousey attitude, refused to take my paperwork. All she did was say im going on my break put a paper over the window opening an left. So i called the company an russel mcpeake answered the phone, he didnt want to talk to me, i was instructed to send a msg on the cualcom. I walked out to my truck an sent one calling this woman a RED HEADED BITC! That was wrong of me but I hadnt been felling well, an the combination of being treated badly by my company an now this woman was to much. I walked back in to rec dept, sat down, then walked over by the window an stood. I got dizzy my arm went back to catch myself, the paper fell off the opening in the window. An the next thing i hear is OH NO, WERE NOT PUTTING UP WITH THIS! A short guy across the room, came over to the window, demanding me to leave. I told him i didnt do anything wrong. The drivers sitting around the table said i didnt do anything wrong, no voices were ever raised, an i was told to leave the property, by this hostle short fellow. So i did. I sent a msg to russel telling him i was told to leave the property;an he calles me on my phone. Never asking me whats wrong or what happened. He only accused me of "going in there an showing my ass, " His exact words. The only thing i could think was great ive got one jerk for a dispatcher, an now a bigger jerk is in his place. I went to the truck stop down the road an sat, for a repower. A woodfield driver parked beside me, an offered to call russel to tell him that i didnt do anything wrong. Russel said" thanks for your input an hung up on the guy. So the driver called him back, russel demandedWHATS YOUR TRUCK #! The woodfield driver told him I DONT WORK FOR YOUR F'n company an hung up on him. Yep, that helped me. I was then instructed to deadhead to louisville KY pu a load take it to stars drop yrd in Nashville TN then bobtail to covenants yrd in chattanooga TN. I did but was never paid for it. I had a car booked a day early loaded it up an left. PS an told russel to take his buss ticket a shove it up his conceided, belligerent butte. Even thou im outa of work i was glad to leave this hellhole. An it took me 3 weeks to get my ear healed up.
