My boyfriend was at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center for a crime he didnt commit. They were keeping him in the hole for no reason. Not to mention how awfully the guards treated him.
He fought them on that and won and they had to let him out. But they didnt like that. So they transferred him, without a hearing, which is illegal to do, to another prison out of state.
I had sent him a card for his birthday a few days before he was transferred. He never got the card but Souza forwarded it by mistake to another guy with the exact same name at another prison in MA.
This person opened his card, wrote to me pretending to be my boyfriend, saying he got his card, and was asking me for money. I wrote to the superintendent at Souza about it and I got a letter from the deputy superintendent saying that all of my boyfriend's mail had been forwarded to him at the new prison, including the card.
But that was absolutely NOT true!!! They sent the card that should have went to my boyfriend to someone else! I had the letter from the other guy as proof of that, but still they denied they accidentally sent my card to him!
They acted like I was lying, imaging it, or making it up! Souza acts like they never do anything wrong, (even when they do), are above the law, and they take no responsibility or apologize for their mistakes. They get away with everything they do, from how badly or unfairly they treat prisoners and how they treat the people that know them, which is just as bad.
And of course the Massachusetts Dept of Corrections, who I also wrote to about this matter, never replied or did anything about it. They dont address any concerns you have. They just ignore them.
Not every prisoner there is guilty or deserves to be treated like that. They are supposed to rehabilitate prioners, not treat them or friends of thiers like that.
