Hi, I have recently passed the defense of my dissertation at the University of Phoenix and I thought I’d share my experience with Minimax Consulting. I was a bit surprised to find a negative review here, as my experience with them has been absolutely fantastic. Let me give you some background on what I went through to get to this point.
I had spent almost a year trying to get my dissertation proposal approved. My chair kept sending the manuscript back for revisions and more revisions. I had to change my research questions and the focus of my study, as well as the data analysis plan, 4 times, as my chair said each time that the proposal was unsatisfactory. Needless to say, this was incredibly stressful. The 4th time my proposal was rejected (with my chair recommending that I use Hierarchical Linear Modeling to analyze the data, a procedure with which I was totally unfamiliar), I decided to get professional help. When I mentioned this to my dissertation advisor, he recommended that I contact Minimax Consulting. They were really helpful from the very beginning. After I signed on with them, they started by sending me a review of my study, stating how it could be improved, and providing very specific ideas for the data analysis plan. After discussing them with my advisor, and refining the details with Minimax Consulting, I received a fully revamped methodology from them. When I sent it to my chair, she was very impressed. She did point out a few minor issues which needed to be addressed, but Minimax Consulting fixed them within a couple of days. After almost a year struggling to get my proposal approved, it was finally approved within one month of working with Minimax Consulting!
To make a long story short, once I collected the data, I again retained Minimax to help me with the data analysis and to prepare for the oral defense. They did a great job, attending to all my requests and my committee’s requirements, with a very fast turnaround time. Just to give you an example, one of the members of the committee asked me at one point to redo some of the analyses using a different software (we had been using SPSS, and he then requested some obscure program called MLwin), and Minimax Consulting helped me with that as well. Within another month and a half, my chair said I was ready to schedule an oral defense, which I of course passed thanks to Minimax.
I couldn’t have done any of this without Minimax Consulting, and I would strongly recommend them to any PhD student who needs help with their dissertation.
