After being a client with Harris Stationers for 5-6 years and spending thousands of dollars, I am outraged by their recent actions. Their collections manager, Stuart Zelden, called my office and informed one of my sales agents of an outstanding bill. He was very obtuse with her and threatened legal action if it wasn't taken care of by the end of the day. It was not only harrassing and excessive but it was illegal considering that he specifically violated the DCA's guidelines regarding third party communications. Despite this violation - I called that day, spoke with the owner, who reversed a small late fee, and remitted payment. Much to my surprise, I received a Small Claims court order for the bill I ALREADY paid shortly thereafter. I was obviously shocked. I thought it must be an oversight but I was even more shocked that they refused to cancel the court case unless I paid for half of the filing! I run a small real estate company and simply do not have the time nor the manpower to leave my office to go to court in the middle of the day. I believe that this was an attempt to strong-arm me for more money. Stuart told me he filed 6 small claims court orders that day. This company is obviously filing frivolous lawsuits and wasting tax-payer money in order to make more money themselves. Furthermore, they are violating collection practices. I am concerned that other consumers are being victimized by this company and feel strongly that this company needs to be strongly reprimanded and warned that these practices. Needless to say, I have filed a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs. Hopefully, they will learn their lesson.in case they don't - DON'T USE HARRIS STATIONERS!!!
