In mid-June I brought Pono a dog I found at our local dump scavenging on whatever he could find. He had ingested some material which blocked his intestine. I called a local animal rescue agent who used her organization's emergency funds to pay for immediate lifesaving surgery. Pono was sent home with me the next day in unstable condition. I called Aloha Vet repeatedly about his lack of improvement and seriously deteriorating condition. The receptionist assured me that he would be okay, but on day 2 he was vomiting continuously and was in severe pain. I immediately brought him to the clinic where he was forced to wait in severe pain and had frequent vomting. The staff allowed nail trims and routine shots to be seen before my very ill dog! After my repeated trips to the front desk we were finally seen 2 1/2 hours later by Dr. Lei Imaino-Hata. She verified his severe condition, but still did nothing to ease his pain or offer prompt care. Finally he was admitted to the hospital ward and placed on IV fluids for dehydration and treated for a paralyzed bowel which is life threatening. The fact that nail trims were seen first and my dog was forced to wait in agony is a disgrace to the veterinary profession and untrained staff were allowed to give medical advice over the phone is completely wrong! Pono suffered needlessly and once seen by a vet his care was at their convenience. Please avoid this clinic by all costs, upon research Dr. Lei Imaino-Hata has had negligence complaints lodged against her as well as the entire clinic. This is verified with Hawaii licensing board's website. I do not want anyone else's beloved pet to be treated with such disregard.
