Cambridge squares apts slumlords/crappy apartments/screwing us over glendale arizona...
I moved into these apartments in May 1995 with my then 3 yr old son and I was 7 months pregnant with my second son. From the beginning I had problems with the landlord and her husband. My husband and I was separted at the time and the landlord had the nerve to tell me that he was not allowed to come visit me. Helloooo? I only rent there she does NOT owe me.
Then I would notice her and her husband videotaping my apartment door (they lived across from me) and one time the landlord stole my food stamps and would hold my mail for me in the office without my consent! Once I found that out I called the post office and complain to put a stop to it.
She got pissed and when my mother called her to ask her what was the deal with this? She had the nerve to call my mom a bitch and hang up on her. I went to the office and she was yelling at me that my husband could not come visit me ever and then haul off at smacked me on the side of my pregnant belly! This result in the police being called but, no charges were dealt with.
She eventually was jailed for stealing the residents checks for rent for her own pleasure. You will think they would get a better landlord well NO!
In 1998 (still living there!) my husband was living with me now and we had a small 2 bedroom apartment. The things that went wrong in this apartment is unbelieveable!
Our water heater busted twice and it took the landlords over 2 to 3 weeks to fix while the carpet was soaked and started growing mold and mildew. Earlier that year my son was diagnose with asthma and was severely allergic to mold/mildew. Telling them this fell on deaf ears.
Our bathroom under the sink was growing so much mold/mildew in the walls (the sink was constantly leaking & the toilet) also fell on deaf ears. The paint on the walls was peeling and with that they gave ME the paint brush and paint & said do it yourself! The whole apartment was infested with roaches, that they were in nearly every outlet!
In 2000 our air conditioner went out on a very hot day in the summer (memorial day weekend) and the landlord apt was again across from ours. I knocked on her door and asked her if she could get someone out to fix it. At this time I had a small infant. She told me No, she cannot not as she is off work at the moment and we would have to wait until Tuesday (it was saturday) to get it fix & slammed the door in my face. When I knocked again she told me her air was working just fine and she will evict us if I knocked again to bother her. I called Property Mgmt to complain and nothing was done. They said I could stay in the model apt which had no air either so why bother!
Tuesday came and finally it was fixed (after we had to all stay with my parents) and when I complained about the landlord I was handed a large stack of papers of complaints about her and said add to this please!!! HUH??? Why was even a landlord then?
In November the owners of the apartments came to inspect every resident apartment! They came in my apartment and had the nerve to tell us we had too many kids and I was a health hazard! For starters the place was in bad shape since nothing was being repair in a timely matter!!! The owner was even going thur our dresser drawers! He was the rudest idioit I ever met (now I knew why the apartments was lousy). He told us we had until next week to get out.
Maybe that was our blessing in disguise because this happen on November 20 and on December 1 we were in a bigger, nicer home!
NOW we been getting collection letters from Property Mgmt stating we own December rent and repairs cost to the apartment!!! They are saying we owe $696.79 and we were out of there by the 1st of the month AND the repairs was never done after numerous complaints from us!
So why are we being bothered by these slum lords to pay a bill we do NOT owe??? They gave us HELL there for 5 1/2 years!!
