Thursday, April 16 around 10:00 am in Millington, TN a young female slightly overweight late teens with dark brown hair wearing shorts, some sort of tank top and flip-flops approached me in the carport claiming to be a college student at the University of Memphis and she had to make $1,000.00 in sales to win a tip to Spain from her school. She inquired if I knew anyone from the University.
She had a well worn pamphlet and told me some of the neighbors had purchased magazines and thought I might be interested. First red flag I missed. She was quite convincing and a definite sales person.
She claimed she lived in Millington but when I asked where she lived, she couldn't give me a street address. Second red flag I missed.
She stated that I would receive a form for IRS for deductions and it would take 4-6 weeks to receive. She then asked me if any other neighbors would be interested but since all I knew worked full time, I
said no.
The final red flag I completely missed was she wouldn't take a check.
She listed her name as S. Gozier, Manager name as JW and Company name was LSI.
I was completely off kilter... I thought I was a pretty good judge of someones character. I really missed it this time. There will definely be a no soliciting sign put up in my window.
