On April 5th I went into the Best Buy store in Wesminster Colorado to purchase a a DVD and a home stereo component. I was going to use my Best Buy card to make the purchase, but was told I needed to reopen an account since I had not used my card in over a year.
I gave the customer service associate, Carol Berche, all of the neccessary information to procees my new card. Along with all this information my ID which had my SS# on it as well.
Carol took a very long time to process my account request, and she spent a considerable amount of time away from the counter.
The purchase I made on this day was $358.00 and some odd cents.
A few weeks pass and I recieve my Best Buy statement. On the statement it shows charges at another Best Buy store, which consequently Carol used to work at. The charges Totaled $2696.00
and some odd cents. A charge I did not make.
Absolutely none else had my Best Buy credit information along with my ID information except someone at that store. I did not even know my account # until I recieved the card in the mail.
Be VERY careful about who you trust your information with, even at a store as well known as Best Buy.
The original dispute I filed with the company was released.
I have filed another dispute that is still pending, and of course I have filed a report with the Sheriffs Department.
