Legionnaire Insurance Trust - Underwritten By Life Insurance Company Of North America
Report: Questionable Business Practices

We originally contracted for this policy on February 1.

Over the years, the benefits have increased by an average of 50% while the premiums have increased to over $70 from an initial $30.80 per month.

Every month, this company sends a confusing BILLING NOTICE that focuses on a new premium for increased benefits. The cost to continue coverage at the previous premium is not the emphasis of the bill. All too often, we errantly and unintentionally pay the higher, new premium.

About a year ago, they unilaterally canceled our policy although we had never made a claim.

Two months ago, they eliminated my name from the policy and send condolences to my wife based on the contention that I had died.

Today, we attempted to contact them to make our first claim. We phoned their claim number (1-800-882-0220) and followed the instructions.in order to receive a claim form, we had to use the phone keypad to enter our identification number. Every time we entered our identification number, the recorded voice instructed to re-enter the number. We could not get out of that loop and hung up.

After several more attempts to request a claim form by telephone, we found a way to get to a 'real person'. She advised to expect to receive the form in a couple of weeks, not days.

This company is sloppy in administration; unilaterally and unhesitantly canceling our policy and declaring me dead.

This company bates the American Legion member with low cost insurance and then begins an immediate and calculated effort to increase the premium on the pretense of increase coverage. Repeatedly, the increased coverage is per incident but does not change the lifetime maximum.in other words, for double the premium a policyholder can use their lifetime maximum twice as fast, but does not receive an increased benefit.
